Start Playing Fingerstyle Acoustic Blues in Six Weeks
Beginner Blues Blueprint is a cohort-based program that teaches the fundamentals of fingerstyle acoustic blues.
But unlike other online guitar courses, you won’t learn passively – you’ll join other students in live weekly virtual classes that teach you how to play real blues music.
You’ll get help and personalized feedback on your playing to help you build a solid acoustic blues foundation.
Exactly Who is the Beginner Blues Blueprint for?
The Blueprint is meant for players who are new to fingerstyle acoustic blues but not new to the guitar entirely. Since the Beginner label can mean different things to different players. Let’s make sure the blueprint is right for you.
The Blueprint is for you if…
- You can play basic open position chords like (G, C, D, E, etc)
- You play acoustic guitar
- You comfortably change between these basic chords
- You can strum along to a song and stay (mostly) on time
- You have tried to fingerpick before and your fingers just won’t cooperate! Or…
- You’ve never tried playing fingerstyle before

The Blueprint is NOT for you if…
- You are just starting out and aren’t yet able to play basic chords
- You consider yourself an advanced player
- You can easily play songs like Baby, Please Don’t Go and Kind Hearted Woman Blues
- You only play electric guitar

John Hatcher, Instructor
I started Blues Guitar Institute in 2011 and have since taught thousands how to play acoustic blues with a simple, straightforward approach.
I believe that great things can be accomplished on the guitar with consistent practice and attention to the fundamentals.
That’s what we’ll focus on in the Beginner Blues Blueprint.
But learning doesn’t have to be dull. We’ll have some fun along the way!
